Can playing video games on an hdtv break it?
I have a Sony 40 inch xbr 4 tv. I just want to know if it is normal for the back of the tv to get warm or hot after playing video games or watching an a blue ray movie. Will playing video games shorten the lifespan of the tv? How long would a tv like mine last when all I use it for is video games? Any ideas, concepts or theories?

No it shouldn't break it.  In the TV when you turn it off there should be a fan to cool down the TV.  My father has a sony vega tv and the fan turns on when he turns off the tv.  It needs it because its one of the bigger tvs and it will emit a lot of energy and heat up.  But!  read some articles... the xbr tvs are knows for heat up problems and it leaves discoloration on the back of the tv... you might want to trade it in for another b4 that happens...
