Not too long ago there were some rumors that a DREAM 11 Lightweight bout was going to take place between Gesias ‘JZ’ Calvancante (14-3-1) and Eddie Alvarez (18-2), but those rumors were eventually shot down by Alvarez and his manager, Monte Cox and instead will take some time off after taking three fights in three months for the upstart Bellator Fighting Championships and becoming the promotion’s first ever Lightweight champion. However, JZ Calvan will be apart of the September DREAM 11 event.

Calvancante confirmed the news of his participation at the event with Tatame.com, but would not be up against Alvarez as DREAM continues to search for an opponent for the American Top Team product.

“They offered me Eddie Alvarez and I was excited, but it seems that he’s injured or had some other problem and won’t be able to fight in the event. I’m confirmed in Dream 11, but I still have no opponent”, said JZ.
Since coming over to DREAM, Calvancante is 0-2 with 1 no-contest with his most recent setback coming at DREAM 9 in the month of May when he took a unanimous decision defeat at the hands of Tatsuya Kawajiri and will be looking to end his current losing streak with a win at DREAM 11.

The DREAM 11 event will be held in Tokyo, Japan on September 23 and will also feature the second round action of the open weight “Super Hulk Tournament” with Gegard Mousasi taking on Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou and Minowaman facing off against the 7′2″ ‘Techno Goliath’ Hong Man Choi with the event likely to be live on HDNet in the US.
