Two Heavyweights who are on the way up are Shane Carwin and Cain Velasquez who are both undefeated with records of 11-0 and 6-0 respectively and were originally rumored last week that they would meet up at UFC 103 in September, but Carwin immediately shot down that rumor. However, it now shows that Carwin is expected to make his Octagon return the following month at UFC 104 in October from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California with the possibility that Velasquez does in fact become his opponent in the process.
It was Carwin himself that made the announcement on his Twitter page that he will make his return at UFC 104 and if all went well with the bout agreements that Velasquez may be his next opponent.

Should the bout become a done deal between Carwin and Velasquez then it is also expected that they will be vying for the number 1 contendership to the UFC Heavyweight title with Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir to fight for the undisputed belt at UFC 100 next Saturday night.

Carwin made his case for a shot at the title when he knocked out Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 96 in March and has since been recovering from a broken nose Gonzaga dealt him during the fight. Meanwhile Velasquez proved his worth when he took a unanimous decision victory over fellow contender Cheick Kongo just a few weeks back at UFC 99 in Cologne, Germany.

We will keep you posted as soon as we know this bout will go down as the UFC 104 card will be headlined by Brazilian Light Heavyweights Lyoto Machida defending his title for the first time against Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua in the main event.

If carwin makes contact cain wont shrug it off like kongo lol..plus carwin is a good enough wrestler to keep cain at bay and keep it standing

Carwin has little respect here so I would expect most to be pulling for Cain. I think Carwin will knock his head off though. Like he always seems to do.
