I generally use iTunes to buy my music and burn it.  Of course, there's always stuff like limewire to download the music for free.  Also, torrent downloaders seem to be the fad lately....sorry I couldn't help more.

I also use limewire.  Since I've switched to Mac, I no longer have to worry about viruses which limewire is notorious for.  I know limewire is technically stealing, but I remember before everything went digital, we used to make cassette copies of each other's tapes and albums.  Since we didn't seem to have any trouble getting the music we wanted then, I fail to see how anything has really changed that much.  I guess it was a little more work calling your friends to see if they had the album you wanted a copy of than just downloading it.  Besides that, I lost any sympathy for the music industry when concert tickets jumped from 12 bucks to 45 bucks overnight.

Thats a great statement Coach and I couldnt agree more.  Its not our fault we have the technolgy, for cheap, to make recordings easier and better then 20 years ago. The music industry should blame Bill Gates , or someone of his nature.

Oh yea, i use lime wire often. Cool

I wish I had a Mac so I didnt have to worry about viruses! Mac's cant get viruses??  Huh?

Technically, Mac can get a virus.  At the current time, there are three known viruses for the Mac.  But Apple offers updates constantly.  The computer asks you if you want the virus downloaded.  You have to click yes three times to download the virus to your computer.  The main reason for this is that Apple hasn't released their language to the public like PC has.  The downside is less software because of the language barrier.  But I imagine as Mac gets a larger percent of computer users, more viruses will be written.  But for the time being, no worries.

When our last computer died, we were going to buy another PC.  Then we started looking at Macs.  I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to use the new platform after it took me years to learn what little I new about windows.  I was also concerned I couldn't send Word or Exel files for business.  All of those concerns were unfounded.  What put us over the edge was when we found out that the MS Office program we bought just two years ago wouldn't work on Vista.  Thats when my wife said fuck Bill Gates, were buying a Mac.

There was a learning curve.  But after a month, I could do more on the Mac than I could on PC.  Also, there is a switch on the computer that allows you to switch to PC format if you want.  I've never used it.  MS office is available on Mac.  But I found out that Mac had a program called IWork.  It's basically the same as office at half the price.  The brilliant part is that it allows you to read Office applications if an Office file is sent to you.  And you can simply convert any of your IWork files to Office if you need to send them to someone using a PC.  It's my understanding that Exel is far more advance than Numbers which is Macs equivalent.  But Numbers is more than I need to run my small business.  The Mac is kind of like a furbie.  It adapts to you.  There seem to be multiple ways of doing most functions.  Then the computer offers you the path you typically use first if that makes any sense.

They say once you go Mac you never go back.  This is true for me.  There are some limitations for Mac though.  If you're really advance with computers, there is alot more you can do on PC.  Also PC is better for video games.  For me this is the most user friendly computer ever.  Also if you have an Apple store near you.  They have free classes on various subjects throughout the week.  The best part, you literally take the Mac out of the box, plug it in, and your ready to go.  I couldn't believe how easy it was using Mail (their version of Outlook).  I selected the icon, it asked if I wanted to use mail for my email, I selected yes, it asked for my email address and pass word, done.  The next time you need to buy a computer, I'd suggest looking at a Mac.  It's one of the few buying experiences that was pleasant from tart to finish with no regrets afterward.

I'm a windows fanboy....I gotta have my games, which Macs simply can't compete with.

And fuck the music industry....the artists get a small cut of the money, while greedy record execs rake in a payday.

Also with limewire, the quality is sometimes bad.  And I have downloaded song before that were not the right ones.  But at those prices, there's no room to bitch.

I started going to a site called payplay.com. You can add money to an account through paypal and they have tons of music with a bunch of stuff not really mainstream. You can listen to bit's of all the songs. They also have Karma points that give you free songs. I think you get some just by joining the site. You also get 5 points free everytime you're the first to rate a cd or song. Then you can just use them to get free songs. I like the site, it's pretty cool.

I also have musicetc. It's limewire basically, only blockbuster gave me a year membership just for trying blockbuster online for two weeks. As for limewire and viruses I use a free antivirus program that was recommended to me a long time ago called Avast. It's free for home versions and then they have different versions that cost money. It's a pretty good antivirus and I swear by it. That along with spyware removals and serious general maintenance keep my pc pretty good.
