I have an issue

I can't ban gss if he joins, and I soooo want to invite him to join so I can ban him, it would make my day

i was thinking....maybe have an MMA News section?  Your call though....I would like to avoid having a million different sub-forums.

Sub forums are good if you ask me.

Of course too many isn't good, but a few I think we should have is

MMA News
Pimp your site (or something similar, for people to post their site)
For sale/Trade (for people to sell things, not just MMA stuff, but other things too, although that should also be broken down into different continents such as North America, Europe, Australia, etc)

There should also be some competitions when we get the sponsors to win token prizes for something like best banner, or video, or something like that.

Ok I like the MMA news but I figured that news would be posted in Talk section as always...There are so many news sites out there already...Probally I could have the news sites linked like Fightline.com....I gotta look into it...

There will be a collectors/memorabilia section but it is not finished...it will have everything from MMA shirts to Boxing gloves...

Pimp your site is good but I figured that would be good for Off-topic...

Pimping your site could go into off topic, but it will kinda be flooded with new topics.

No one will want a single thread as no one will look through the thread.

So another forum to post links to good sites would be the best option.

you can even split that forum down into multiple sub forums by type (MMA, Movies/TV, Gaming, Funny stuff etc.)

People can use that forum to plug their own site, so Off Topic can be kept for discussing stuff in a forum kinda way.

Off Topic can be changed to Off Topic Discussion with a sub heading "discussing anything non-mma"


As for the competitions, I am just thinking something fun, such as crazyshit.com (one of my favourite sites) had a competition where one of the guys that run it had a picture of him holding a keg of bud light, and the competition was that whoever photoshopped it the best won a free t shirt.

there were some really good photoshops, and some really funny ones (amongst the not so good or funny) and all the 1 final winner got was a t shirt costing the site nothing because it was a merchandiser stock item, and everyone had a real good laugh on the forums.

I want to have that here, sure there is over 10,000 regular users on their forums, but we can make it there if we try.

I don't know the ins and outs of the comps, but when there is enough users to make it worthwhile, we'll play it by ear

I agree...as soon as we go live and have enough user we will do that with a competition of some sort...

Prizes are fun if you can get those up...i'm sure that will most likely come later though, once there's a big community established.  I agree there are too many news sites....i guess people can get their fix on different sites.

From what I've seen, more sub-forums become necessary as the site grows...so i guess this is good for now.  Can't wait for everything to get finished.

On another note, I don't know too much about servers and stuff but...how much traffic can this site handle?  When UFC events come around, everyone logs onto their favorite MMA video website, which could potentially crash some websites, and usually slows the web site down considerably.

Once we get enough users we will upgrade to dedicated hosting which will allow us to have as many users as we can fit...

is there going to be a fighter find? I mean or info on fighters that ppl might want to know?  i mean there's sherdog and other fight finder sites like wikipidia as well...or is that just too much?  what are the options?  I really haven't been on to many forms like and don't know all the ins and outs.  how will the prizes work? 

I like the sell and trade bit... but would that mean having to deal with money through the site like paypal?  or just using the messaging side of the site to get the info and do private sells... wouldn't want the site ending up like ebay where u get ur SS# or account # stolen...

Well back to the question.. what are the options because I don't want to give a suggestion that wouldn't have any pertinent to the site...

no we love suggestions...and to answer your question a fight finder although is great for sherdog is not the feel we are going for...

Once MMATurf is done and live it will be a forum that has MMA videos, Gifs, Profile layouts and Signatures...Once complete all sections will be huge and users can biuld their MySpace and Facebook backGrounds and profiles with gifs, signature and images with this MMATurf for FREE...
