Watch UFC/FOX Sports Press Conference Live Today at 10AM PT/1PM ET

 August 18th, 2011

FOX Sports Media Group is hosting a press conference Thursday morning in Los Angeles, California where they are expected to make “one of the biggest announcements in FOX Sports history.” All signs point to the presser revolving around their new agreement with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

The Sports Business Journal broke the story earlier this week that the world’s premier mixed martial arts promotion had finally landed the major network television deal they had coveted for years. According to the report, FOX will air four live UFC events per year starting in 2012. FX will take over every show that Spike TV and Versus currently offer, including “The Ultimate Fighter” reality series.

Sources close to the negotiations claim the contract runs for seven to eight years and bidding had gone as high as $90 million per annual.

Expected to appear at today’s presser are UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta (Pictured), president Dana White and reigning champions Georges St-Pierre and Frankie Edgar. UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell was with White yesterday, so there’s likely to be a Mohawk in attendance this morning, as well.

“Good Morning! I have a funny feeling today is gonna be a GREAT DAY!!!!!” White tweeted just moments ago.

Representing FOX Sports Media Group will be CEO David Hill, co-presidents and COO’s Randy Freer and Eric Shanks and FX president John Landgraf.
